This course will inform the information professional of different ways of delivering informational services instruction to clients.
By optimizing the standard instructional platform today (Microsoft PowerPoint) and introducing other innovative web-based models of instruction—such as Prezi, Jing, LibGuides, and Keynote for iPads—information professionals must reevaluate and assess their current pedagogical philosophies in an effort to stay relevant and meet clients' needs in ways that are familiar, and most accessible, to them.
Employing adult learning models and principles is imperative to delivering course content effectively and increases information retention among participants. Instructors and participants should also be aware of the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Information Literacy Competency Standards.
Course participants will become familiar with:
- Jing & Screencast
- Keynote for iPads
- LibGuides for Training
- Game-Based Learning
The participants will learn that these tools can act as alternatives to PowerPoint presentations for training. CE course attendees should have a general idea for a class or workshop they are looking to develop in their institution.
- Participants wil use one of the described tools to create an instructional session for practical use.
