TREND Partnership: Tobacco Disparities Resources

They work to save lives by advocating for public policies that prevent kids from smoking, help smokers quit and protect everyone from secondhand smoke.

Originally established in 1965 as the National Clearinghouse for Smoking and Health, OSH is dedicated to reducing the death and disease caused by tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke.

Since its inception, NAATPN has facilitated and implemented numerous tobacco control activities that are based on the recommendations of CDC's Best Practices for Tobacco Control Programs and the Guide to Community Preventive Services.

This website offers free, credible, current, comprehensive information about cancer prevention and screening, diagnosis and treatment, research across the cancer spectrum, clinical trials, and news and links to other NCI websites.

The information on this site is science-based, authoritative, and up-to-date. Medical experts, cancer researchers, and editors review the content before it is published to the website.

NLTCN produces newsletters, “action alerts,” press releases and publications highlighting trends and best practices in tobacco control, and organizes training and networking opportunities for advocates by linking state health departments, mainstream tobacco control organizations, and communities to NLTCN members who can provide technical assistance and culturally appropriate training services. Their website serves as a resource with links to repositories of tobacco control curricula, reports and other materials to help advocates do their work, including five (5) “Emerging Promising Practices” recently published by NLTCN in English and in Spanish to highlight innovative tobacco control efforts targeting Latino communities.

SRNT accomplishes their mission by presenting an annual scientific conference, where researchers at every career stage present their latest findings, and by providing an outlet for publication of cutting edge research through their scientific journal, Nicotine & Tobacco Research, which is published by the Oxford University Press.

TCRB is within the National Cancer Institute’s (NCI) Behavioral Research Program (BRP), in the Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences (DCCPS).

Known previously as American Legacy Foundation, we were established as part of the 1998 Master Settlement Agreement between major U.S. tobacco companies and 46 U.S. states, the District of Columbia and five territories.

Eleven Regional subnetwork lead agencies facilitate training and technical assistance opportunities that impact Hispanic communities on how to decrease exposure to second-hand tobacco smoke, increase smoking cessation, increase cancer prevention, and improve quality of life for those living with cancer.
