Quality Improvement (QI)

CONNECT

Goal: To identify colleagues and potential mentors who have experience with QI reporting.

Resources

A recurring theme in many of the readings that discuss writing up your QI project for publication is that getting guidance and feedback on your writing from peers and mentors is a wonderful way to build both competency and confidence.

Below are some resources that can help you identify local colleagues who have previously authored QI-reports who may be able to share some advice based on their experience or professional peers (at MSK or elsewhere) who may be willing to read your QI manuscript and provide some constructive feedback. Reviewing examples of QI reports that were successful at getting published in a scholarly journal can also help demystify the QI writing process.

Synapse is a collection of author profiles, providing access to an inventory of published content from our researchers, clinicians, nurses and healthcare professionals. As the name implies, Synapse is the user’s point of "connection" to publications authored by Memorial Sloan Kettering staff.

  • Search using MSK affiliation information and QI search hedge

You may have noticed while searching within Synapse that searching only for the phrase "quality improvement" is not the most comprehensive way to go about identifying QI studies. Because authors may report on QI without using this exact phrase, it is a good idea to also try searching using a more sophisticated biomedical literature database, like PubMed.

For example, you could try this search in PubMed to identify studies by MSK authors related to QI:
