Introduction

Artificial Intelligence tools raise new questions about copyright, both for those using generative AI who may wish to copyright the results and for those inputting copyrighted materials into such tools. As these issues evolve, regulations and policies will evolve as well. The following are a selection of resources on AI-related copyright issues.

U.S. Copyright Office

Initiative on AI
The U.S. Copyright office launched an initiative on artificial intelligence in 2023. So far, two reports have been released. A third part is expected imminently.
Policy statement on registering works created by AI
This statement, published in March 2023, aims to clarify how the copyright office handles works that include material generated by artificial intelligence.
