Arab-American Heritage Month

Banner for Arab-American Heritage Month

Arab American Heritage Month, observed annually in April, serves as a celebration of the rich cultural and invaluable contributions of Arab Americans to the mosaic of American society. It is a time to honor the diverse histories, traditions, and achievements of individuals tracing their roots to the Arab world, spanning from North Africa to the Middle East. As we reflect on their enduring legacy, we embrace the spirit of inclusivity and understanding, fostering dialogue and appreciation for the myriad of cultures that enrich the American experience. This month offers a meaningful opportunity to recognize the resilience, creativity, and enduring spirit of Arab Americans, while also reaffirming our commitment to fostering a society that cherishes diversity and embraces the contributions of all its members.

As we enter the month of April, we embark on a journey of celebration and reflection here at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. As a leading institution in healthcare, research, and patient care, we understand the importance of diversity and inclusion in fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for all. Throughout this month, we have the opportunity to celebrate the rich traditions, achievements, and resilience of Arab Americans within our own community and beyond. By embracing and appreciating the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our staff, patients, and caregivers, we strengthen our collective commitment to excellence and compassion in the fight against cancer and health disparities.
