Citation Management

EndNote is a desktop-based citation manager that MSK provides access to through a licensing agreement. There is also a cloud-based component called EndNote Online that can be synced to your desktop program to facilitate collaboration and sharing. Contact the Help Desk at 123-3337 or 646-227-3337 to have EndNote installed on your account. For MSK issued laptops you will need to open another request to have it added to the company portal (PC) or Self Service (Mac).

Mendeley is a freely available web-based citation manager with an upgrade to a paid version. MSK now has an institutional subscription for.Menedeley. Users can now take advantage of 100 GB of personal storage (versus 2 GB in the free version), 100 GB of team storage (versus 2 GB in the free version), an unlimited number of private groups (versus 5 in the free version), and the ability to have 100 members per group (versus 25 in the free version).

PaperPile ($) is web-based citation manager that is integrated into Google Apps. It allows you to collect citations via a Chrome extension and then add PDFs to your Google Drive account, and write your papers in Google Docs. Collaborate with colleagues using Gmail and the Google Apps ecosystem within PaperPile to share content.

ReadCube Papers ($) replaced Papers 3. It is a seamless web, desktop, and mobile reference management application. Contact MSK IT Procurement to learn how to purchase a discounted license.

RefWorks is a web-based citation manager. Due to budget constraints, MSK no longer has an institutional subscription to this resource. RefWorks allows you to easily gather, store, and share citation information.

Formally F1000 Workspace, SciWheel is a cloud-based citation manager with desktop software created by Faculty of 1,000 (now Faculty Opinions) as a space for researchers to collect, write, and discuss scientific literature. It is available for staff of MSK through the library.

Zotero is a free browser-based open-source citation management project. However, it requires a monthly fee for upgrades beyond 300MB. The benefit of Zotero is that it automatically senses the content of your web browser and adds it to your personal library with a single click.
