Depositing Data in Repositories

For Sequence Data

You can read through EGA's instructions on sequence data submission with accompanying screenshots in their detailed guide. The following steps are the essential items you need to know for submission:

  1. Get your submission account

  • Create your EGA user, which needs to be verified by the Help Desk team. Once verified, request your submission account, and provide details about your data type and platform(s) in your submission

  1. Register your Study

  • Use the Submitter Portal to register your study, samples, Data Access Committee (DAC) and Policy.

  1. Upload data

  • Encrypt your data files using the EGACryptor, and upload it to your inbox using SFTP
  1. Register experiments and runs

  • Associate each data file to a register sample and study by linking your files to sample. You must provide details of the experimental procedures you followed.

  1. Finalize your submission

  • Group your runs and analysis into datasets, and link them to a new or existing DAC/policy using the DAC Portal. Data request are done at a dataset level, so all files within a dataset must share release conditions.

  1. Release and admin

  • When finalizing the submission, set a release date to instruct the Help Desk to release your study. All registered studies are automatically placed on hold until the named submission or DAC contact instructs the Help Desk to release the study.
