There have been 11 outbreaks (defined as 3 or more related cases) reported in 2024, and 69% of cases (101 of 146) are outbreak-associated. For comparison, 4 outbreaks were reported during 2023 and 48% of cases (28 of 58) were outbreak-associated.

On March 8 2024, the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) identified its first case of measles since 2019. The case was identified in a resident at a new arrivals shelter in Pilsen and the City of Chicago is responding with a host of resources in order to protect residents at the shelter. The case of measles was identified in a young unvaccinated child.
